A little history!

OK.. I will admit I was anxious and grouchy about going to South San Francisco for Ernies get together with his family... It has not always been fun for me.

But! Yesterday ended up being a great time. The phillipino food was sooooo frickin' good ( Poncit, Babinka, Chinese dim sum, Shu pow, Black bean sweet balls) and the rest was from Costco so it was delicious... but for dessert there was a cake... dont know the name, but it had five layers of angel food and each layer had fruit in it... holy shit... soooo good!

Anyway.. they played Mahjong (revisiting all the tagalog swear words) and we saw 8 mm movies that were put into VCR tapes of baby ernie and the rest of his family....including his mom and dad... Ernie is the spitting image of his dad...There was a story telling time where they learned Ernies dad had a half sister, that Gloria did not eat monkey brains while in hiding in the jungle... but did eat Iguana and bugs.. GROSS!

Also when the Japanese invaded the Phillipines all the sisters had to work to provide for the family because their dad had to go into hiding so they didn't kill him...they worked in a cigarette factory.. rolling cigs and they were 7, 9, 11 and 12. Can you imagine? They had to bow to the Japanese flag before getting off the bus...

Ok.. a little history... Ernies dad (Raymond) was 100 percent Spanish... and his mother (Gloria) was 50 percent phillipino and 50 percent English ( her dad was English named Wilson) and all 4 sisters ( Gloria, Merna, Norma, Bessie...all named after movie stars) look various types of phillipino and english... The baby Merna... looks very little phillipino and is real tall...

so..Ernie really is more Spanish than Phillipino, although there is no doubt he has Phillipino in him ...

I am sooooo gassy today and plan to stay at home and flatulate! It smells like Chow Mein!

Thanks babe for sharing your thoughts about our family visit. We did have a good time and it needs to happen more often.

Just to let anyone who reads this blog, My Aunt Merna is spelled with a y. Myrna. My aunts have an older brother Rudy and my dads name is Ramon but was called by most Ray or Raymond.

However, if Ernie looks exactly like his dad, yet he looks philipino, uh, why does Ernies dad look Phillipino? Never saw an Asian looking Spaniard before. but oh well, if you say so.

I agree.. I think he looks like a mix... Spanish and Phillipino..

Both his parents were Spanish..
Zabaljauregui and a Spanish lady...
